Fès
Fez, a city in northern Morocco, is the seat of the Fez-Meknes region and is home to about 1.2 million people. Founded in the 8th century by Idris I, it quickly became an important cultural and scholarly center. It is renowned for the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, one of the oldest universities in the world. The Medina of Fez, with its maze of narrow streets and traditional workshops, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit Fez, with moderate temperatures.
